In the 1960's I was driving through one of Kansas City, Kansas poorest neighborhoods when I saw this little boy looking at me. I stopped. We looked at each other. I made this photo and converted it to stark black and white to bring out the texture and reveal more clearly the child growing in poverty. I wonder what happened to him.
